Who is SeaJUG

The Seattle Java User Group is one of the oldest US Java-related user groups. Since 1996 we have created and cultivated relationships with companies, developers and other technical user groups across the Seattle area. Our mission is simply stated as to

Become the supporting structure for Java and JVM Engineers, allowing them to grow in their career

We are a group of unpaid volunteers that strive to create a great and vibrant community for Java and JVM Engineers.

What does it mean to sponsor SeaJUG

Your sponsorship allows us to fulfill our mission by providing access to world-class presenters and materials. It also helps fund initiatives like our “Office Hours”, on which we pair mentors with new developers. Your sponsorship also supports keeping the “lights on” and covering our expenses like website costs, incorporation, and taxes. Each sponsorship received help further the following programs:

World-Class Java and JVM Meetups: We scout and partner with the big Java and JVM presenters to get them to present at SeaJUG. Over the past years, we have top-shelf presenters such as Kirk Pepperdine, Josh Long, Venkat Subramaniam coming and raising the level of engineering for our members. Your sponsorship helps us getting venues, food, and securing Travel and Expenses for some of our speakers.

Office Hours: A brand-new program offered by SeaJUG, office hours brings mentors and mentees together. By offering a space where new engineers and/or students can follow tutorials, or bring their questions to mentors we allow them to have a much stronger footing as they embark on their career.

Networking Events: The SeaJUG is keen on running community events where the whole purpose is to get to know each other. With no agenda and just “geeks being geeks” we create stronger bonding between our members and allow opportunities to flourish.

Other Outreach Programs: As we get the funding we keep expanding the scope of our programs, and with your sponsorship, we are hoping to bring to live programs around Kids Programming Conferences, Scholarships and D&I Efforts.

A solid corporate foundation: SeaJUG has been active for more than 23 years, and we expect it to be active in the far future. To do so SeaJUG has been growing leadership, a board and with that comes the need for a corporate structure. Your sponsorship enables us to cover the costs of running the organization such as internet hosting, taxes, and incorporation.
